A new association has launched to enable healthcare providers to provide better care with fewer resources through the use of value-based medical technologies, according to its founders.
The Value-Based Medical Technology Association is a 501(c)(6) trade association promoting market access to reliable, low-cost medical technology supporting the legal, regulatory and other trade interests of its members, the new group said in a statement.
"We believe that VBMTA will serve as an important vehicle to educate providers and hospitals on the benefits of value-based medical technologies, and can help hospitals access technologies designed for healthcare value, not for the legacy manufacturer's bottom line," VBMTA Board Chairman Rick Ferreira said in a statement.
Ferreira is CEO of Intralign Health, a specialty healthcare services company. The group's board of directors is also lead by Vice Chair Anthony Viscogliosi, president of Paradigm Spine, a company specializing in spinal implant technology.
The association's founders did not say whether they plan to hire staff.
